Vegan 'Shamrock Shake'

Vegan/gluten-free minty 'Shamrock Shake'

Every year during the month of March, McDonald's comes out with its famous 'Shamrock Shake' to celebrate St. Patrick's day. While thinking about what special dessert I could make for the festivities, this minty goodness came to mind!

What is a 'Shamrock Shake'?

This dessert is basically a vanilla milkshake with added green color and some minty flavor. Sounds simple? It is! This recipe is very easy to make, and only takes a few ingredients. The end result is a creamy, light, and delicious milkshake!

Your results may vary due to what vegan ice-cream base you used, so make sure to adjust your measurements as needed. Want to skip the mint and keep it straight vanilla? You absolutely can! This recipe is very versatile so feel free to add in or take out anything you'd like.

Vegan 'Shamrock Shake'

Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 large scoops of vegan vanilla ice cream - I used Buck Vanilla cool

  • 50 ml Plant based milk - I used soy milk

  • 1/8 tsp Mint extract

  • 4 drops Green food coloring

OPTIONAL

  • Sprinkles - I used edible glitter silver stars. You can find them with the rest of our sprinkles at our bakery!

  • Vegan chocolate chips

  • Vegan whip cream

  • Mint leaf for garnish

Directions

  1. Start by adding your ice-cream, milk, mint extract, and food coloring to a blender. Blend on high until all combined.

  2. Adjust any flavoring or consistency here. If you'd like your shake to be thicker, simply add in more ice-cream and re-blend.

  3. Once you have your shake the way you like it, pour it into a glass and garnish with whip cream, sprinkles, and chocolate chips.

  4. This drink melts quickly, so make sure to eat it right away!
